Do you want to properly insure your vessel?
Then determining the property's daily value and recording it is a requirement and basis for proper insurance. Of course, you do not want to pay too much or too little premium!
An accurate valuation of your vessel is important if you unexpectedly suffer damage to the property. Should the insured value not correspond to reality, the insurer may cut you off from the claim amount to be paid.
A fixed valuation prepared by an expert prevents underinsurance. In case of total loss without a predetermined insured value, the object is appraised afterwards by an expert from the insurer. The market value of the object in this situation can be much lower.
You can prevent this by having an appraisal report drawn up on the basis of Article 7:960 (7.17.2.24) Civil Code, after acceptance by the insurer, the insured value will be included in the policy schedule and applies for a fixed period. In case of total loss, this appraised value will be paid out. We advise you to ask for the conditions set by the insurer in advance.
In addition to establishing a daily value, insurance and general safety requirements are considered. The overall condition of the object is also recorded.
The above is also called an underwriting inspection by insurers.
At the end of the insurance appraisal, the findings are discussed with you. These are also incorporated into the report and supplemented with advice.
The report gives a complete picture of the object including the current value so that it can be accepted with an insurer.
